Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/643, the son of George &
Sohia Spalding (nee Dunkerley).

George Spalding - Married - aged: 32 - occ: Cotton
Piecer (Spinning Mule) - born: Oldham.    Also -
Sophia Spalding - Wife - aged: 31 - born: Oldham. 
 Plus 3 siblings and Sophia's brother.

He married Nellie Burns during the September
quarter 1934 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/2502 and
they resided at 27 Ethel Street, Hathershaw,
Oldham.

1939 National Registration - 27 Ethel Street,
Oldham.   James D. Spalding - Married - born: 6th
July 1909 - occ: General Labourer (Heavy Duty).  
Nellia Spalding - Married - born: 18th March 1911
- occ:   There is one redacted record - their
youngest daughter -  Millie Spalding?  Their
eldest - Joan died in infancy.

Service No.865.   Sent down from his base at
Oldham Fire Station to assist the local firemen at
Trafford Park during the Manchester Blitz
22nd/23rd & 23rd/24th December 1940.

CWD Report No. 44.     Died at Trafford Park, from
where his body was recovered at 13.00 hrs on the
24th December 1940 and taken to the City Road
Mortuary, Old Trafford.    His body was identified
by a friend - Henry Potts Mills and released to
his widow Mrs. Nellie Spalding, for burial.

Death registered in Stretford Borough.   Buried on
30/12/1940.

Death reported in the ----------------- edition of
the ------------------------------- that states
that he resided at 27 Ethel Street, Hathershaw and
left behind a widow and 2 children   He was
employed at the Manchester Armature Repair Co and
joined the Fire Service on the 25th June 1940
