Born 1895, the son of John & Jane McLaughlin.

Married Mary Jones during the September quarter
1940 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/2187.

His new wife - Mary Jones, together with four of
her children - Catherine Jane Jones, William
Jones, Patricia Jones and James Jones were all
killed in this incident.

CWD Report No. 68.   Listed as Hugh McLaughlin, he
died as a result of falling debris at 28 Stanley
Road, Old Trafford, from where his body was
recovered at 15.45 hrs on the 9th January 1941 and
taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford.  
His body was released for burial to the Council's
Undertaker Contractor - R. pepperdine, 31 Ayres
Road, Old Trafford     Employed as a crane
driver.

Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road,
Old Trafford.   This was the worst single incident
in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater
Manchester during WW2.   In total, thirty three
persons were killed.

Buried 15/01/1941 - Burial No. 17,942.

CWGC - of 28 Stanley Road, Old Trafford. Son of
the late John and Jane McLaughlin; husband of Mary
McLaughlin. Died at 28 Stanley Road.
