Maria Hadfield was born during the September
quarter 1869 in the Hayfield R.D. - ref: 7b/651 -
the daughter of Henry & Elizabeth Hadfield.

View), Hayfield     Daughter - aged: 1 - born:
Hayfield.

Her mother - Elizabeth, died during the December
quarter 1876 at Hayfield R.D. - ref: 7b/410 or 440
- aged: 40.

1881 Census - Toll Bar (last House before Mount
View), Hayfield.    Daughter - aged: 11 - Scholar
- born: Hayfield.   Residing with her widower
father and siblings.

1891 Census - Toll Bar (last House before Mount
View), Hayfield.     Sister - UnMarried - aged: 21

Hayfield.   Residing with her brother and two
sisters.

Her father was then residing at Furness Vale - a
Boarder -  aged: 60 - occ: Assistant Soap Boiler -
born: Hayfield.   Henry died during the December
quarter 1894 at Hayfield R.D. ref: 7b/464 - aged:
64.

Reuben and Maria Hadfield were married at Hayfield
R.D. - June quarter 1895 - ref: 7b/1314.

Reuben was born at Hayfield during the December
quarter 1868 and at the time of the 1881 census
was residing with his parents  - George K. & Mary
Brooks at Top of Town, Hayfield - aged: 12 -
occupation: Labourer at Print Works.   By the time
of the 1891 census was residing with his parents
at Stone's Head, Hayfield - aged 22 - occupation:
Labourer at Calico print Works.

Her husband - Reuben Brooks, died on the 28th July
1954 - aged: 85.    Their daughter, Nellie -
married an Albert Jepson.

Lancashire.   Wife - Married - aged: 30 - born:
Hayfield.    Residing with her husband - Reuben
Brooks - aged: 31 - occ: Labourer at Calico
Printworks - born: Hayfield.  Plus their two sons
- Tom and Henry.

1911 Census - 38 Jackson Street, Cheadle,
Cheshire.    Wife - Married - aged: 41 - Married
145 years - born: Hayfield.       Residing with
her husband - Reuben Brooks - aged: 42 - occ:
Calico Bleacher - born: Hayfield.  Plus two sons
and two daughters.

Part of the Manchester Christmas 1940 Blitz, a
landmine landed onto 49 Bulkeley Road, Cheadle.  
17 year old Ronald Frederick Harrison was in the
passageway between Nos. 47 & 49 and the two
buildings collapsed on top of him.  Rescuers
managed to free him, but he died the next day at
Stockport Infirmary.    Next door at No. 51, Miss
Nora Jackson was just collecting her pet bird
before going to the public air raid shelter, she
was killed instantly.    Across the road at No.
20, Maria Brooks was hit in the stomach by a piano
stool and died the same day at Stockport
Infirmary.  Her husband - Rueben was only slightly
injured.

The planes are believed to have been twin-engined
Heinkel bombers, which came under local fire from
mobile anti-aircraft battery at the junction of
Kingsway and Broadway. A 1,000 pound landmine was
released on a target thought to be a factory
manufacturing aircraft wings, however the bomb
missed the factory altogether, landing directly on
a house in Bulkeley Road, Cheadle
