Born as Mary Ann Seanor on the 6th February 1868,
the birth being registered during the March
quarter 1883 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/752, the
daughter of George & Hannah Seanor (nee Turner).

Married Robert Edward Hunter during the September
quarter 1903 in the Rochdale R.D. - ref: 8e/99.

1911 Census - 8 Tyler Street, Salford.   Wife -
aged: 43 - born: Bradford, Yorkshire.  Plus her
daughter - Clara Dorothy Hunter - aged: 6 - born:
West Gorton, Manchester.   No trace of her
husband.

1939 National Registration - 17 Robinson's
Buildings, Eccles New Road, Weaste, Salford.  
Mary A. Hunter - Widow - born: 6th February 1868 -
occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.   Frank Davis -
Married - born: 8th June 1885 - occ: Shot Blaster,
Iron Foundry.   Clara A. Davis - Married - born:
13th November 1904 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.

Her husband - Robert Edward Hunter died early in
1939, aged: 69.  Her daughter - Clara Dorothy
Davis, was also killed in this incident, as was
her son-in-law Frank Davis.

From an Eccles Salvation Army document entitled
"Memorable Dates" - 22nd and 23rd December 1940.

The two nights when this district received the
force of the Germans Air strength will long be
remembered.  Amongst the many people who lost
their lives were our following named comrades.   
Robert Thompson, Bandsman.   Mrs Thompson, wife of
the above. {Annie]   Kenneth, Allan and John, the
three sons of our comrades.

Major Wm Allen, the Commanding Officer, who apart
from the shelter visitation is attached to the
town's war mortuary & recognised the bodies of his
own people as they were brought in with other
victims of the air raid.  Moving sights were
witnessed at the funeral service in the citadel
also at the graveside in Peel Green Cemetery,
conducted by Major Allen, assisted by Mrs Major
Allen.

Brother Frank Davies & Sister Mrs Clara Davies,
his wife, lost their lives on the second night of
the Blitz, when Weaste district suffered very
heavily.    [Frank & Clara Dorothy Davis].

We were unable to bury our comrades until
Saturday, January 4 when the Weaste cemetery
re-opened.    Mrs Hunter, [Mary Ann Hunter] mother
of Mrs C Davies also lost her life through this
raid and was buried with our comrades.  They all
enjoyed a very bright Christian experience.

CWGC - of 17 Robinson's Buildings, Eccles New
Road, Weaste, Salford. Daughter of George Seanor,
of 25 Bunyan Street, Rochdale; widow of Robert
Edward Hunter. Injured 23 December 1940, at 17
Robinson's Buildings; died at 123 Crescent Road.

Florence Beard was killed at No.22.  The dwellings
were recorded as 2,4,6,8 up to 22 on the evens
side and 5,7,9 up to 17 on the odds side.  Nos. 17
and 22 were opposite each other at the end of the
road.
