CWD Report No. 58. Died as a result of blast at
57 Milton Road, Stretford, from where his body was
recovered on the 24th December 1940 and taken to
the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. His body
was identified by his son George W. Tomkinson, No.
948070 Royal Artillery, to whom it was released
for burial. Described as being 5 feet 5 inches
in height, of slim build, with grey hair and brown
eyes. His wife's body was released for burial to
the Council's Undertaker Contractor - R.
Pepperdine, 31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford - although
not recorded on Walter's record, it is to be
assumed that his body was as well.
Employed as a Motor Driver. Residied at No. 7
Milton Rd according to Stretford Memorial Book???
His wife - Mary Tomkinson was also killed in this
incident.

Grave.
