Chorlton R.D. - ref:8c/853, the son of William &
Mary Skelton.

Manchester.   Son - aged: 1 - born: Manchester.  
Head of Household - William (father) - Married -
aged: 53 - occ: Beer House Keeper - born: Preston.
   Mary Skelton (mother) - Wife - aged: 41 - born:
Middleton.   They had been married for 12 years
and produced two children - only one was still
alive.

Married Gladys Hart during the September quarter
1934 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1591. 
 They resided at 214 Brantingham Road,
Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester.

Unpaid Domestic Duties.  There was one redacted
record at this address - Roy & Gladys'  son -
Howard Skelton born in 1936.

CWD Report No. 29.   Died as a result of blast at
Trafford Park, from where his body was recovered
at 14.00 hrs on the 27th December 1940 and taken
to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford.    His
body was identified by a friend - Patrol Officer
1731 E, Davies and released for burial to the
Council's Undertaker Contractor - R. Pepperdine,
31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford.  Employed as a
Printer.   Some of this information is at odds
with the "Nozzle" Memorial.

Buried 31/12/1940 - Burial No. 17,902.   His
gravestone states that he died on the 22nd
December 1940.   The CWGC also records his death
as being on the 23rd December 1940, which I
believe to be wrong.

Commemorated on the Manchester Fire Brigade
Memorial.

The "Nozzle" Memorial states that he died
instantly together with William Henry Varah at the
Unitarian Church on Shrewsbury Road, Old Trafford
- NOT at Trafford Park.
