Born on the 11th July 1912, the birth being
registered during the September quarter 1912 in
the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1238, the son
of Arthur Tom & Emily Nightingale (nee Holland).

1939 National Registration - 211 Barton Road,
Stretford.   Emily Nightingale - Married - born:
26th June 1875 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. 
Kenneth Nightingale - Single - born: 11th July
1912 - occ: Electrical Engineer (Professional
Manufacturer of Steelworks Electric Engines) &
Part Ime A.F.S. (Stretford).

Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a
Probationary Trade Apprentice in August 1927
became a Trade Apprentice in February 1928 and a
Special Trainee in July 1933.   On completion of
his apprenticeship in June 1935 he joined the
staff of the Plant Engineering Department.   
Joined the A.F.S. in September 1939.    Killed in
an air raid whilst on duty in December 1940.

Died at Withington Hospital as a result of
injuries sustained at Trafford Park on 22nd
December 1940.

Death registered in the Manchester R.D. - during
the December quarter 1940 - aged: 28.

Commemorated in the Metro-Vics WW2 Memorial Book. 
   Also commemorated on the Metro-Vics RUFC
memorial at Ashton upon Mersey MV Sports Club.

Manchester Evening News dated the 24th December
1941.    "Roll of Honour" - In memory of Firemen -
Anderton - Fenton - Hopwood - Killeen - Paul -
Smith.   Remembered by Fred Mottram and their pals
from Station 37.

Stretford. Son of Mrs. E. Nightingale.   Injured
22 December 1940, at Trafford Park; died at
Withington Hospital, Nell Lane.
