CWD Report No. 65. Died as a result of falling
debris at 28 Stanley Road, Old Trafford from where
his body was recovered at 16.30 hrs on 9th January
1941 and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old
Trafford. His body was released for burial to the
Council's Undertaker Contractor - R. Pepperdine,
31 Ayres Road, Old Trafford.
Killed when a land mine landed on Stanley Road,
Old Trafford. This was the worst single incident
in terms of loss of life in the whole of Greater
Manchester during WW2. In total, thirty three
persons were killed.
Buried 15/01/1941 - Burial No. 17,945.
His mother Mary McLaughlin (formerly Jones) and
his new step-father Patrick Hugh McLaughlin,
together with his siblings - Catherine Jane Jones,
Patricia Jones and William Jones, were also killed
in the same incident.
CWGC - of 28 Stanley Road, Old Trafford. Son of
Mary McLaughlin (formerly Jones). Died at 28
Stanley Road.
