He commenced work in the offices of Yates' Wine
Lodge Headquarters at Oldham in 1892. The
business later moved to Manchester and Samuel
became the Secretary to Peter Yates and Associated
Companies.
Samuel became a Conservative member for the St.
Paul's Ward of Oldham Council in 1937 and served
on the Finance & Public Libraries Committee. He
was a freemason in the Clemency Lodge.
Death Certificate states that he was a Secretary
to a Wine & Spirit Merchants. Cause of death:-
1(a) Cardiac Failure (b) Endocarditis (c)
Hyperpiesis. His nephew - T. Greaves was present
at his death. He obviously never recovered from
the bombing of his house and died two months later
at his nephew's house. |
