Extra Information:
Born Sarah Jane Ormrod on the 6th November 1858,
the birth being registered during the March
quarter 1859 - ref: 8d/510.

Married Edward Unsworth during the December
quarter 1882 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/58.
Edward died during the September quarter 1914 in
the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/2, aged: 60. Buried
on the 9th July 1914

Sarah Jane Unsworth, her son - Herbert Unsworth
and Herbert's wife - Elizabeth Unsworth, were all
killed in this incident.

1939 National Registration - 3 New Hall Street,
Pendlebury, Lancashire. Sarah Unsworth - Born
on the 6th November 1858 - Widow - occ: Unpaid
Domestic Duties. Elizabeth Unsworth (Sarah
Jane's daughter in Law) - Born on the 7th June
1889 - Married - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.
Her son - Herbert Unsworth was then residing at 53
Whippendell Road, Watford, Hertfordshire.
Herbert Unsworth - Born on the 9th December 1888 -
Married - occ: Battery Erector Storage. Probably
boarding at this address as another work colleague
was also residing there.

CWGC - of 3 New Hall Street, Pendlebury. Widow of
Edward Unsworth. Died at 3 New Hall Street. 3
Hall Street was a link road containing just four
houses and situated between Hopwood Street and
Cavendish Street. Hall Street no longer has a
street name plate.

Sarah is not listed on her son and
daughter-in-law's headstone at St Augustine’s
Churchyard, Pendlebury. It is believed that she
was buried in the same churchyard with her husband
- Edward Unsworth who died in 1914.

Keith Smith informed us that Sarah's son - Herbert
was the third of Edward and Sarah Jane's six sons.
"My grandfather was her second son Samuel
(1885-1966). Her fifth son was Harold (b. 1896)
who played rugby for Swinton RLFC in the early
1920s."

Another relative - Phillip Pearce in Australia,
informs me that Herbert and Elizabeth lived in
London and were employed at a battery factory
there. They were only visiting Manchester to stay
with Herbert's mother - Sarah Jane Unsworth, over
the Christmas holidays - an unfortunate case of
being in the wrong place at the wrong time!
