Agnes Moss (nee Moon).

A Private serving with the 1st Battalion,
Manchester Regiment.   Service No.3532754.

Killed at Withernsea, East Coast of Yorkshire.  
Manning the East Coast Defences - part of an Ack,
Ack, Battery perhaps?  Three bombs were dropped on
Withernsea at 18.26 hrs on the 24th July 1942 by a
German Dornier Mk IIK Bomber, killing 12 civilians
and 3 soldiers.  One landed on the beach, the
second on the Octagon Cafe and the third, onto
Queen Street, where Mr. Dawson's Butchers was
hit.

Private Stanley Phillips, also of the Manchester
Rgt was also killed in this incident.

Death registered during the September quarter 1942
in the Holderness R.D. - ref: 9d/76.

CWGC - Son of William Rushton & Agnes Moss of
Longsight, Manchester.

Manchester Evening News dated 27/07/1942.   Killed
as a result of enemy action, aged: 23.    The only
son of Mr. & Mrs. W.R. Moss, 27 Sutcliffe Avenue,
Longsight, Manchester.
